The purpose of this chart is to show
Cave Dog's progress in terms of the record time he needs to beat.
Our figures are derived by taking the previous record time of 4 days,
15 hours, 19 minutes and subtracting 1 minute, as that would be the
minimum new record time, and dividing by the mileage to each
location. The difference indicates by how much Cave Dog's time is
below(-) or above(+) record pace. Because this is an indication of the difference from
a record pace, not the difference from the actual record, the final
time is 1 minute off of the difference from the actual record.
The locations have been selected to be easily recognizable
locations roughly ten miles apart. They actually range from 8.1
to 11.5
miles. The course is inconsistent in
terms of mileage and vertical and does not account for bad weather, or
nightfall; so, this comparison
is not realistic. It is offered as a rough guide only.
